HONORING A LEGEND
The Wilson School District renamed their primary Athletics Field in honor of John Gurski prior to the season finale vs Garden Spot on Friday, November 6th, 1998. Below you'll find the video from the pregame ceremony as well as the write-up in the following days Reading Eagle.
Prior to the Bulldogs 2005 home opener (Friday, September 9th) at the stadium bearing his name, a monument to John Gurski was revealed. At the conclusion of the game, a 40-7 victory over Dallastown, Wilson players and coaches placed a hand atop the statue's bulldog to honor Gurski. That tradition continues to this day.
